In Memoriam Teresa

On Saturday the 30th of January 2010 our beloved dolphin Teresa passed away unexpectedly after she experienced extreme birth complications. Although the staff and Dr. Tom Reidarson did everything in their power to save her she succumbed.

Teresa was one of the original dolphins that arrived on Curacao on May 26th 2002 and started the Dolphin Academy. In the almost 8 years that she was with us she touched a lot of hearts of both the staff and our guests. Together with Dolphin Annie she started the open water program and in 2007 she became the proud mother of dolphin Kayena.

Teresa was a much loved and very special friend to all of us. Her memory will be honored and she will be deeply missed.

and you'll swim on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on. I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

will remember well all you've taught.
