Education project Whales and Dolphins kicks off

The Curaçao Dolphin Academy and the Sea Aquarium kicked off the new school year with the renewed education project: Whales and Dolphins. Ten school classes received their school books today, which in the coming months will teach them a lot about dolphins and sea life in an adventurous way.

Since the original launch in 2007, almost 2000 third grade students followed the project. The past year was used to develop the project in a continuous form with themes and material for all the elementary school grades (1- 6). Dolphin Academy sponsors the first grade classes of the Don Sarto school in Soto, Skol Basiko Barber, Kolegio Dodo Palm, St Antonius school, Kolegio Nechie Pieters and Kolegio Maria Auxiliadora. In the future they hope to include more schools.

Apart from school books the students will receive a real dolphin lesson from a Dolphin Academy employee in the classroom and to finish the project they will visit the Curaçao Sea Aquarium for a themed morning.

With this project the Curaçao Dolphin Academy and the Sea Aquarium wish to make the children enthusiastic about their sea and the animals that live in it. In that way they want to contribute to the knowledge about, and the protection of marine mammals and their habitats.
