The Helfrich Krijtschool launched the Dolphin Week enthusiastically with a successful clean up of the local beach Jeremy. The students also unveiled a beautiful information sign. On this they call on all inhabitants of Curaçao to not let their trash lie around on the beach, since this will all end up in the sea..
During the week, extra emphasis was put on the importance of education. Dolphin Academy developed an education project about dolphins and whales which will be followed by seven elementary schools, good for a total 330 students.
The project was handed over in a festive way to the students and teachers of group 5 of the St. Anthoniusschool in Seru Fortuna. The students especially studied a beautiful song for the happening that was performed at the top of their voices!
In order to ask attention for the protection of whales and dolphins in the Netherlands, the Dolphin Academy cooperated with the National Geographic Channel. Together they launched a dolphin week with a price question. Viewers had to think up an original slogan for the Dolphin Fund and could win a trip to Curaçao.
Creativity could not lack of course and therefore the children of the Dolphin Fun Club put all their effort in different art pieces that will be auctioned online. Local artist Suus Krediet specially made an original dolphin painting out of driftwood. The benefits of the auction will all go to the Dolphin fund and will be devoted to a local project that benefits the Curaçao Sea.
The Dolphin Week was toped off during the international bay day with the placement of a second information sign at the Caracasbaai. Dolphin Academy looks back on an eventful week with a lot of interactive attention for dolphins and the other life in the sea.
Because of the big succes more events will surely follow!
