It is with deep sadness that Curacao Dolphin Academy announces the loss of its patriarch Copan, king of the lagoon. The eldest dolphin of Dolphin Academy’s community arrived from Roatan, Honduras in 2002. He is survived by his daughters Li-Na, Chabelita, Kayena, Nubia, Alita and Serena; and by his sons Tikal, Pasku and Machu.
Copan touched the hearts and minds of countless visitors through interactive programs, open ocean dives, and some of the most amazing aerial displays seen anywhere in the world. It is easy to see why the lady dolphins found him to be such a desirable companion.
Although Copan will be dearly missed, Dolphin Academy has been blessed by many years and experiences with this wonderful animal. His presence will remain within his offspring for many more years to come and also through all the beautiful memories Copan created not only for Dolphin Academy but for all the visitors that had the pleasure to meet him.
