General Requirements

Regarding to employees

Dolphin Academy is a multicultural organization with an informal atmosphere. Several people from Curaçao, the Netherlands, Honduras and the United States are working here, that’s why the common languages are Dutch and English. Also Papiamentu and Spanish and another foreign language are preferable. Dolphin Academy is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As an employee you need to be therefore flexible regarding to your working days. You need to be available during holidays and weekends. For trainers it’s even required to be available in the middle of the night for the baby watches.

For trainers there are more specific requirements next the general requirements above. If you’re interested in a job as a Dolphin Trainer we are looking for candidates with animal or cetacean related educations. It is an advantage if you have dive certificates. You need to be a perfect swimmer as well, this will be tested during a swim test, and you need to be psychically fit because of the heavy work.

Dolphin Academy practices a probation period of 2 months. In our search for new employees we prefer candidates who are already living on Curaçao.

Regarding to interns

Dolphin Academy is an acknowledged learning company at Kenwerk. A centre of knowledge for the catering industry, bakery, traveling, recreation and general and technical service providing.

Our organization contents a variety of cultures. Several people from Curaçao, the Netherlands, Honduras and the United States are working here, that’s why the common languages are Dutch and English. Speaking another foreign language is preferable.

Dolphin Academy works in general with local and Dutch students. For not local students we use a minimum internship period of 20 weeks. Dolphin Academy is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As an employee you need to be therefore flexible regarding to your working days. You need to be available during holidays and weekends.

If you’re interested in an internship as a Dolphin Trainer we are looking for candidates with animal or cetacean related educations. You need to be a perfect swimmer as well; this will be tested during a swim test. You need to be psychically fit as well because of the heavy work. There will be a probation period of 1 month.

We request our interns to subscribe to a traineeship office like Wereldstage, Stageplek Curacao, Kennis voor Curacao, GP Start etc. to settle insurances for calamities etc. as good as possible. An internship abroad is a great experience but we do want our interns to be well prepared to end their internship with excellent results.
